Rabat – The sixth session of the International Children’s Summit Simulation for Jerusalem will begin tomorrow, Tuesday, in Rabat, bringing together children from 24 nationalities across the world. Among the participants are six Palestinian students, aged 11 to 16, from schools affiliated with the Directorate of Education in Jerusalem. The event forms part of an educational and humanitarian initiative that will run through May 14.
Organized at the invitation of the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Asharif Agency (BMAQ), an institution affiliated with the Al-Quds Committee chaired by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, and supported by the Ministry of National Education, Preschool, and Sports, this session is held under the theme: “For Media That Upholds Justice for Palestinian Children.”
The event coincides with Rabat’s designation as the Arab Media Capital for 2026 and simulates an international summit of Ministers of Information with the participation of children themselves.
The session offers a rich and varied program, including educational visits to several departments of the Ministry of Youth, Culture, and Communication – Communication Sector, as well as to the Higher Institute of Information and Communication. Participants will also engage in artistic and educational workshops led by the creative team behind the “Hayya” platform for children and youth, which promotes the values and cultural heritage of Jerusalem.
This platform, launched by the Agency last year as part of its 2024–2027 digital strategy, includes animated series, interactive posters using augmented reality technology, an educational magazine, and puppets representing the characters “Habbat Az-Zaytouna” and “Al-Miftah,” symbols of peace and the right of return.
Launched by the Agency last year as part of its 2024–2027 digital strategy, the platform features animated series, augmented reality interactive posters, an educational magazine, and puppet characters such as “Habbat Az-Zaytouna” (The Olive Seed) and “Al-Miftah,” (The Key), symbols of peace and the right of return.
The current session offers Palestinian children an opportunity to share with their peers their perspectives on how the media portrays them and the extent to which it respects their rights and privacy, in accordance with the principles of the Convention on the Rights of the Child.
The session will conclude next Thursday with a plenary meeting hosted by the Academy of the Kingdom of Morocco, bringing together ministers, diplomats, and representatives of international organizations accredited in Morocco. The closing ceremony will include the handover of the session’s presidency, speeches by delegations, and the reading of the final communiqué..
It is worth noting that last year’s session was held under the presidency of the Turkish representative and under the slogan: “For the Children of Palestine : No Alternative to Peace.” Participants emphasized the importance of such gatherings for children to discuss issues that concern them, while expressing their deep sorrow over the suffering of children in Gaza and the rest of the Palestinian territories.
