A prominent report from the Organization of Islamic Cooperation’s Al-Quds Committee, chaired by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, was distributed to participants at the 15th session of the Islamic Summit Conference in Banjul, Gambia. The report highlighted that the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Al-Sharif Agency, the Committee’s executive arm in the Holy City, achieved over $13.8 million between the two summit sessions from 2019 to 2024.
The report confirmed that under His Majesty’s personal supervision, the agency continues to improve the living conditions of the Jerusalemite population through economic, social, housing, educational, and cultural projects that directly address the needs of the residents.
These projects have significantly improved the living conditions of Jerusalem’s residents, bolstered their resilience, preserved the cultural identity of the Holy City, promoted peaceful coexistence among followers of the three monotheistic religions, and fostered dialogue based on mutual respect and acceptance of differences.
The report also underscored “the Kingdom of Morocco’s continued support for the Palestinian cause and its unwavering solidarity with the Palestinian people.” This was recently exemplified by the significant humanitarian operation initiated by King Mohammed VI during the blessed month of Ramadan to aid Palestinians in Gaza and Jerusalem.
Beyond urgent humanitarian interventions, the agency’s presence in Jerusalem has expanded to include a wide range of social support programs for Jerusalemites. These programs cover dignified living, sponsorship of Jerusalemite orphans, scholarships, youth activities, sports, childhood initiatives, women’s support, assistance for people with disabilities, protection of Palestinian heritage and arts, and scholarly efforts to highlight Jerusalem’s comprehensive cultural identity. The agency also supports research and studies on Holy Jerusalem.
The report detailed the agency’s achievements across various sectors, including education, health, reconstruction and restoration, housing, protection of historical properties, social assistance, emergency response to the Covid-19 pandemic, media and press freedom, and the annual “Aouna” olive harvest campaign.
The report also described the agency’s innovative work methodology, represented by initiatives such as the “Bayt al-Maqdis” Center for Research and Studies, the Rabat Observatory for Observation, Tracking, and Evaluation in Jerusalem, the “Dalala” platform for social and solidarity trade, the Children for Jerusalem Club, civil initiatives for a sustainable development program in Jerusalem, and the Moroccan Cultural Center – Morocco House in Jerusalem.
