Casablanca – Jerusalem children taking part in the annual summer camp organized by the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Asharif Agency (BMAQ) visited several religious, cultural, and modern landmarks in Casablanca on Sunday, concluding the first phase of the 17th edition, themed “Manaret Al-Salam” (Lighthouse of Peace).
The 50 boys and girls, aged 11 to 14, are participating in the camp, held under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Chairman of the Al-Quds Committee, in partnership with the Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication – Youth Department, from August 12 to 26.
The Casablanca tour offered the children and their accompanying supervisors an opportunity to discover the city’s religious and architectural heritage, as well as landmarks reflecting Morocco’s blend of tradition and modernity.
The children began their tour at the Hassan II Mosque, exploring its facilities and learning about its distinctive Moroccan architecture, renowned for its fine craftsmanship and traditional artistic elements.
They then visited the historic Habous Quarter, exploring its traditional streets and architecture and discovering Moroccan handicrafts, including textiles, silver, copper, and leatherwork. The children also purchased souvenirs for their families and friends.
The tour continued to Casablanca Finance City, giving the children a glimpse of modern Morocco and its economic development. They also visited the Ain Diab Corniche before heading to Bouskoura Green City, the final stop of the first phase.
On Saturday, the participants visited the Royal Guard Headquarters at Mechouar Essaid in Rabat, where they toured cavalry, sports, and music training facilities and watched equestrian demonstrations. They also visited the Royal Guard Museum and viewed its collections, with one Jerusalemite child signing the museum’s Golden Book.
The children also took part in BMAQ’s “Summer School” program in Skhirat, held from August 12 to 14 under the theme “Through Technology, We Learn, Express, and Create.” The program brought Moroccan and Jerusalemite children together to promote brotherhood and unity and encourage cooperation and teamwork.
The children will travel to Tangier on Monday for the second phase of the camp, which will include visits to Tetouan and Chefchaouen.
