Rabat – The Bayt Mal Al-Quds Asharif Agency (BMAQ) today in Rabat presented the results of its activities for the year 2025 and outlined its action plan for the new year 2026, which focuses on the theme: “Revitalizing the Palestinian Economy for Development and Social Stability.”
On this occasion, the Director of BMAQ, Dr. Mohamed Salem Echarkaoui, stated that the overall value of the projects carried out amounted to USD 8 million, emphasizing that the Kingdom of Morocco continues to be the Agency’s exclusive source of funding.
Mr. Echarkaoui underscored that USD 6.5 million was allocated to projects carried out in Jerusalem, covering social assistance and human development sectors, while an additional USD 1.5 million was set aside for humanitarian relief operations in the Gaza Strip.
Dr. Echarkaoui explained that the Agency’s interventions in Jerusalem are being carried out in light of the repercussions of the war on Gaza and its escalating humanitarian, social, and economic impacts, as well as the challenging economic conditions facing the city of Jerusalem amid fragile security circumstances.
In this context, Dr. Echarkaoui noted that, given these circumstances, the Agency joined the national mobilization campaign launched by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Chairman of the Al-Quds Committee, to support relief efforts in the Gaza Strip.
Looking ahead to 2026, the Agency’s Director stressed that the institution aims to address the significant funding gap, advance its administrative reforms, and execute its digital strategy (2024–2027), allowing it to optimize resources, improve the effectiveness of its programs and projects, and maintain support for the Palestinian population.
The meeting brought together the Director General of the Arab Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Jerusalem, Louay Al-Husseini, who presented on the Chamber’s activities in partnership with the Agency, and Raja Al-Rantisi, President of the “Asala” Association of Palestinian Businesswomen, who showcased the Association’s programs and initiatives designed to promote economic entrepreneurship and empower women, aligning with efforts to stimulate the Palestinian economy in Jerusalem.
