Al-Ram – The 2025 “Awna” Olive Harvest Campaign was launched on Tuesday at the headquarters of the Jerusalem Governorate in Al-Ram. The campaign will benefit around 2,520 Palestinian farmers from more than 25 villages and areas surrounding Jerusalem. Supported by the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Asharif Agency (BMAQ), the initiative marks the opening of the 2025–2026 social and economic season in Jerusalem.
On this occasion, the Deputy Governor of Jerusalem stated that “for the sixth consecutive year, we renew our bond with the Palestinian farmer, the blessed olive tree, and the land that lies at the heart of our cause as Palestinians and Jerusalemites, through the annual ‘Awna’ campaign, generously supported by the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Asharif Agency.”
Siyam underscored the significance of the “Awna” campaign in reinforcing the steadfastness of both the people and the olive tree in Jerusalem. He noted that the olive harvest season brings people closer to their land — through this blessed tree and the farmers who, on a daily basis, endure attacks by the occupation, including the burning and uprooting of olive trees, as witnessed only a few days ago.
The Deputy Governor went on to emphasize that, thanks to the support of the Agency and the Moroccan Association for the Reconstruction of Palestine, farmers are able to remain resilient and steadfast on their land, beneath the olive trees that are so deeply cherished by all.
The “Awna” campaign seeks to strengthen the capacity of farmers in the Jerusalem Governorate by supplying them with essential tools and equipment for the olive harvest season. It also involves active participation in the harvesting process, especially in areas close to settlements, to provide farmers with on-the-ground support and protection. The assistance includes olive-picking machines, ladders, mats, bags, combs, buckets, clothing, and other necessary supplies.
BMAQ also announced today the launch of the social and economic agenda in Jerusalem by unveiling a package of projects for the final quarter of the year. These initiatives span various sectors, including health, education, social assistance, human development, and support for start-ups operating in innovation and renewal fields.
