Tangier – Jerusalem children taking part in the 17th edition of the summer camp joined Moroccans on Saturday in celebrating Youth Day, which this year coincides with the 63rd birthday of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Chairman of the Al-Quds Committee.
The children and their supervisors marked the occasion with a symbolic celebration at their residence in Tangier, featuring artistic performances inspired by Palestinian heritage and heartfelt wishes for His Majesty’s continued health and well-being.
The ceremony, attended by Acting Director of the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Asharif Agency (BMAQ) Mohamed Salem Echarkoui, opened with the Jerusalemite children singing the Moroccan and Palestinian national anthems, followed by a poem celebrating the occasion performed by Yasmine Rassas and traditional Palestinian Dabke performances.
On the occasion, Sinar Azhaiman, speaking on behalf of her peers, extended their “warm congratulations, as well as those of their families” to the Moroccan people on Youth Day, an annual celebration honoring the country’s youth and reaffirming the values of patriotism and commitment to the nation.
She added that the Palestinian Dabke performances presented by her peers that evening “captured, through their confident steps and authentic rhythms, the spirit of belonging and pride in one’s homeland.”
She further described music as a “language that transcends words and touches the heart,” carrying messages of love, joy, and hope through its melodies, and bringing together “two cherished homelands united by history, heritage, and the values of brotherhood and affection that build bridges from Palestine to Morocco.”
For her part, Muntaha Attoun, representative of the Directorate of Education and Teaching, extended her congratulations to His Majesty the King and the Moroccan people on Youth Day, wishing His Majesty a long life in “serving His country and supporting Jerusalem and its Palestinian people.”
“May joy and celebration always fill Morocco and the hearts of its people! We have witnessed firsthand the depth of genuine solidarity with our cause, giving us hope for a brighter future, God willing, in which our children can enjoy their right to live safely and with dignity in their homeland,” she said.
The celebration concluded with the lighting of candles and the serving of sweets, creating a joyful atmosphere that will remain a cherished memory for the Jerusalem children, their supervisors, and their families, who have followed their children’s journey in Morocco with pride and happiness at every stage.
Each year, Jerusalem children taking part in BMAQ’s summer camp, held under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Chairman of the Al-Quds Committee, join the Moroccan people in celebrating national occasions that coincide with their stay in the Kingdom, as a gesture of appreciation to His Majesty and gratitude to the Moroccan people for their warm hospitality.
