Marrakech – April 14, 2024
The Bayt Mal Al-Quds Asharif Agency (BMAQ) is taking part in the third edition of GITEX Africa, which opens today, Monday, in the city of Marrakesh and runs through April 16, 2025. The Agency is participating through a dedicated pavilion showcasing its BMAQ Innovation Hub—an incubator focused on supporting Palestinian youth-led projects in the fields of innovation and entrepreneurship. This initiative is made possible with the support of the Moroccan Ministry of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform.
This participation offers a unique opportunity for six Palestinian startups to enhance their contribution to social and economic development in Jerusalem and the Palestinian territories. It aligns with the objectives outlined in the Agency’s 2024–2027 Digital Strategy, which focuses on key sectors including education, healthcare, financial technology, environmental technology, and digital commerce.
This participation underscores the Agency’s ongoing commitment—under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Chairman of the Al-Quds Committee—to empowering Palestinian startups by creating meaningful opportunities for growth and innovation in the field of digital technology. It also offers startup founders access to tailored technical support and expert guidance through a comprehensive training and mentorship program totaling 190 hours of specialized instruction.
In this context, BMAQ’s pavilion at the exhibition (20D-20) will host a series of professional meetings and presentations by the participating Palestinian startups, alongside thematic discussion panels and advocacy sessions. These activities aim to strengthen cooperation between the startups and key Moroccan and international stakeholders in the digital sector.
Last year, BMAQ launched its 2024–2027 Digital Strategy under the theme “Digital Development in the Service of Economic and Social Progress in Jerusalem.” In addition to its incubator for Palestinian startups in innovation and entrepreneurship, the strategy features a range of digital platforms: the Bayt Al-Maghrib platform for documenting and preserving Palestinian heritage; Dlala, for social and solidarity-based commerce; a distance learning platform in partnership with Al-Quds University; a psychological support clinic; and “Hayya”, an educational and entertainment app promoting the virtues of Al-Quds, aimed at children and youth.
