The managing director of Bayt Mal Al Quds Asharif, Dr. Mohamed Salem Echarkaoui, stressed that the Agency is striving to build on its gains and consolidate its honorable balance sheet in supporting Al Quds and its resistant population, as it is reflected in its practical approach that is typical to the action of His Majesty King Mohammed VI as chairman of Al Quds Committee.
He added that His Majesty King Mohammed VI, chairman of Al Quds Committee, has stated on more than one occasion that “the city of Al Quds holds a special place in the heart of Arab and Islamic people and is, therefore, a sacred mission that we should all fulfill and a great responsibility we are accountable for in front of the Almighty and history”.
He also recalled that the celebration is a renewed encounter with “the Moroccan elite, represented by its authors and plastic artists, as the Agency is marking its silver jubilee, under the aegis of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Chairman of Al Quds Committee, may God protect him.
“The Agency has earmarked this year around 3.4 million USD to support the sectors of education, health, social assistance, culture, information, publication and documentation, the whole budget being donated by the Kingdom of Morocco”, he noted, stressing that the Agency will launch on Thursday March 23, 2003, in Al Quds its program for the month of Ramadan. The program features social assistance, human development, and cultural and arts events projects, worth over 200,000 USD.
“For the first time, he pointed out, the Moroccan cultural center association –Bayt Al Maghrib- will be holding in Al Quds joint activities with 10 associations from Al Quds, all along the month of Ramadan, for a total budget of around 100,000 USD, as a blessed introduction to Bayt Al Maghrib activities and programs in Al Quds, when it officially opens”, said Mr. Echarkaoui.
In his speech on this occasion, the Moroccan culture, youth and communication minister, Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid, noted that in keeping with the Royal instructions, his department will not spare any effort to uphold the Palestinian cause and will remain open to any initiative associated with youth, culture or communication meant to consolidate cultural activities and to extend financial and moral support to promote cultural initiatives that would enhance rapprochement between the Moroccan and Palestinian people.
