Rabat – By order of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Her Royal Highness Princess Lalla Meryem received on Sunday at the Guest Palace in Rabat the Jerusalem children taking part in the 17th edition of the summer camp organized by the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Asharif Agency (BMAQ).
Held under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Chairman of the Al-Quds Committee, the initiative reflects His Majesty’s steadfast support for the Holy City and its inhabitants and BMAQ’s ongoing efforts to assist local communities through projects benefiting women, children, and vulnerable groups.
Held under the theme “Manaret Al-Salam” (The Lighthouse of Peace ) from August 12 to 26, this year’s camp brings together 50 boys and girls from Jerusalem, aged 11 to 14, accompanied by five supervisors. It features the second Summer School in Skhirat, as well as educational excursions, cultural and sports competitions, and activities bringing the children together with their Moroccan peers.
BMAQ Acting Director Mohamed Salem Echarkoui, accompanied by the supervisors and children, came forward to greet HRH Princess Lalla Meryem.
HRH Princess Lalla Meryem then posed for a commemorative photograph with the participants and their supervisors before presiding over a reception hosted by His Majesty King Mohammed VI in their honor. The children presented Her Royal Highness with two commemorative gifts.
Mr. Echarkoui also presented HRH Princess Lalla Meryem with a commemorative book published by BMAQ documenting highlights of the camp’s 17th edition. Since its launch in 2008, the camp has benefited 850 children from various neighborhoods of the Holy City, accompanied by 85 supervisors. Participants have visited different regions of the Kingdom, experiencing firsthand the depth of Moroccans’ steadfast solidarity with the Palestinian people.
