Jerusalem – On Tuesday, the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Asharif Agency (BMAQ), in partnership with the Moroccan Association for the Support of Reconstruction in Palestine, launched an emergency campaign to support the health and education sectors in Jerusalem amid the city’s challenging conditions.
In this context, the Agency delivered a shipment of tablets to the Directorate of Education in Al-Ram, north of Jerusalem, to support the continuity of the educational process, which has been disrupted in the city.
It also provided first aid kits to neighborhood committees in Jerusalem’s Old City, which has been under lockdown for more than three weeks due to events in the Middle East.
These kits include first aid supplies for emergency and urgent situations, including masks, sterile medical bandages, gauze, cotton, tissues, instant cold packs, medical “gauze rolls,” in addition to other items.
Samir Jibril, Director of Education in Jerusalem, expressed his sincere gratitude to His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Chairman of the Al-Quds Committee, and to the Moroccan people for their unwavering support of Jerusalem and its residents, as well as their continued commitment to ensuring students’ right to education and strengthening the resilience and continuity of schools and universities.
He stated, “This initiative comes at the right time, as these devices will help students continue their education, especially given the challenges of distance learning,” noting that Jerusalem’s difficult economic conditions prevent many students from obtaining them.
For her part, the principal of Al-Aqsa Girls Secondary School, Amal Abu Al-Rub, affirmed that this initiative “will have a significant impact in supporting and enhancing distance learning among female students, especially given the challenges many of them face due to the lack of the necessary electronic devices to follow courses.”
Soufiane Allan, Deputy Director of Al-Ummah Secondary School, praised BMAQ’s generous support and donations during this challenging period, highlighting the growing pressures on various sectors—particularly education—and emphasizing the importance of such initiatives.
Representatives of neighborhood committees and associations in the Old City stressed the importance of BMAQ’s emergency campaign, particularly given the rising social and political pressures affecting the area
In this regard, Samer Khalil, a member of the Old City Youth Committee, noted that “BMAQ’s grant reflects the deep, longstanding relationship between the Palestinian and Moroccan peoples,” emphasizing the importance of delivering this aid to residents of the Old City, especially amid the difficult conditions caused by the war, which have further strained the already fragile economic situation.
Marwan Ghoneim, a member of the Old City Youth Committee in the Al-Wad neighborhood, also praised BMAQ for its assistance and the distribution of first aid kits across the Old City. He noted, “This support comes as no surprise from our brothers in Morocco, who have steadfastly supported the Palestinian cause and the residents of the Holy City for many years.”
