Jerusalem – On Thursday, the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Asharif Agency (BMAQ), operating under the Al-Quds Committee chaired by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, successfully completed an initiative to equip schools in several villages across the Jerusalem Governorate with essential supplies, including desks and chairs, stationery, pedagogical support materials, and computer equipment, in close coordination with the governorate’s relevant services.
The support focused on schools serving the Bedouin communities of the Jahalin Arabs in the Khan Al-Ahmar and Wadi Abu Hindi areas, in addition to Badiyat Al-Quds School, Al-Muntar School, and the Bedouin School in the Al-Eizariya community, with the objective of enhancing the learning environment in these institutions.
On this occasion, the head of the Khan Al-Ahmar Village Council, Eid Khamis, praised the “Moroccan support for the education sector in the Jerusalem Bedouin areas,” affirming that this support directly contributes to “improving the educational process and ensuring the continued enrollment of more than 180 students at the Khan Al-Ahmar Coeducational Basic School.”
Mr. Khamis expressed his gratitude to HM King Mohammed VI, the government, and the Moroccan people, in recognition of their steadfast support for the Palestinian people—particularly in remote areas facing limited access to education—and praised the BMAQ for its role in carrying out the project.
In this context, school principal Halima Al-Zahaiqa noted that the institution faces a severe shortage of educational materials, including printing paper and teaching aids for board instruction, emphasizing that these resources are crucial for delivering lessons effectively and inspiring students to learn.
The principal explained that the Khan Al-Ahmar Coeducational Basic School serves students from five Bedouin communities: Khan Al-Ahmar, Al-Kurshan, Al-Tabna, Al-Arara, and Abu Falah, and currently enrolls 164 male and female students from kindergarten through the tenth grade.
For his part, the mukhtar of the Wadi Abu Hindi community, Mohammed Al-Hamadin, conveyed his gratitude to His Majesty the King for this support, noting that “it has arrived at a critical time when Bedouin communities are facing repeated settler attacks, including the vandalism and burning of several schools.”
Mr. Al-Hamadin explained that the support provided the community’s schools with books, stationery, computers, as well as desks, chairs, and cleaning supplies, emphasizing that these essential resources were urgently needed to ensure children could learn in a safe and suitable environment.
Meanwhile, Inam Abu Zuaiter, Acting Director General of Public Affairs at the Governorate, expressed her gratitude for the ongoing support to schools under threat in the Jerusalem area, highlighting that “it serves as a vital means of reinforcing the resilience of students and local communities in the targeted regions.”
Ms. Abu Zuaiter highlighted “the importance of the project in reinforcing citizens’ resilience on their land, especially within the targeted Bedouin communities,” expressing her hope that future phases will see “the implementation of further development initiatives to enhance educational resources and improve the learning environment in these schools.”
