Tangier – February 1, 2025
The Governor of Jerusalem, Adnan Ghaith, praised today in Tangier the continued support of His Majesty King Mohammed VI for the causes of Jerusalem and its residents, affirming that “Jerusalem has always been, remains, and will continue to be at the heart of the Arab and Islamic nations’ concerns.”
In comments relayed by Morocco’s official news agency, the governor emphasized that despite the intensifying attacks on Jerusalem and ongoing efforts to alter its identity and landmarks, the city will continue to be a priority for His Majesty the King and for all honorable and freedom-loving individuals around the world.
For his part, Mohamed Salem Echarkaoui, the Acting Director of the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Asharif Agency (BMAQ) , emphasized that the gathering of Arab cities in Tangier “reaffirms the commitment to Jerusalem and reflects Morocco’s unwavering support for the city and its people.
In his opening speech, Echarkaoui emphasized that over the past year, BMAQ, following the directives of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Chairman of the Al-Quds Committee, has remained committed to supporting Jerusalem and its residents. This has been achieved through consultation with various societal groups and the implementation of major social and humanitarian projects, fully funded by Morocco with a budget of $4.2 million.
Acknowledging the “difficult reality” in which Jerusalem finds itself and the growing needs of its residents, particularly in light of economic recovery challenges due to successive crises, Echarkaoui called on the attending members of the Organization of Arab Cities to allocate financial contributions within their budgets to support social projects for Jerusalemites and preserve the city’s sacred identity. He further stressed that Morocco has established “a model of support based on good governance, sound management, and a forward-looking vision, yielding tangible results.”
