Al Quds –August 04 2023
The Moroccan cultural center –Bayt Al Maghrib in Al Quds- held on August 04 2023 the “Kingdom of Morocco day in Al Quds” with the support of Bayt Mal Al Quds Asharif Agency, in celebration of the 24th throne day marking the enthronement of His Majesty King Mohammed VI of Morocco.
The event, held in the presence of the Agency acting Director, Dr. Mohamed Salem Echarkaoui, Morocco’s ambassador in Palestine, Mr. Abderrahim Meziane, a host of Christian and Muslim religious leaders, influential figures from Al Quds, representatives of United Nations organizations, heads of local associations and institutions, and a representative for the chamber of commerce, was organized as part of the Agency’s silver jubilee that marks 25 years of existence and services meant to reinforce the resistance of Al Quds inhabitants and institutions and preserve the historic identity and civilization of Al Quds.
On this occasion, the exhibition of the Kingdom of Morocco was inaugurated, displaying earthenware, copper, cooking and kitchen items of the Moroccan handicraft, in addition to traditional garments and jewelry, music instruments and rugs. The exhibition was decorated with a flower painting in the Moroccan flag colors and pictures of the august royal family and of Moroccan monuments.
Several figures attending the event took the floor, including the Agency director, HM the King’s ambassador and Khalil Abu Arfa, representative of the Moroccan cultural center, in addition to the official in charge of Al Quds at the Organization for the Liberation of Palestine, Adnane Al Hussaini, Bishop Souhail Dawani, the president of Al Quds University, Dr. Imad Abu Koshk, and chairwoman of the International Summit for Children, the Maqdessie student, Yasmine Ayyad.
The speakers hailed the role of Morocco, under the chairmanship of HM King Mohammed VI, chairman of Al Quds Committee, to support the holy city and its resilient population.
During this ceremony, the book “documenting the Moroccan trips on Al Quds values and virtues”, published by the Agency in 2023 was launched and a video titled “Morocco in Palestinian eyes”, co-produced by the Moroccan Council of the Moroccan Community Abroad, Bayt Mal Al Quds Asharif Agency and the National Library of the Kingdom of Morocco, was screened.
At the end of this event, the participants transmitted a message of recognition and consideration to King Mohammed VI and congratulated the Moroccan people on the throne day.
Were also present Sheikh Azzam Al Khateb, head of Al Quds endowments department, Archbishop Atallah Hanna, head of the Greek Orthodox Church in Al Quds, ambassador Ahmed Ruwaidi,, Palestinian presidency advisor for Al Quds Affairs and Al Quds vice-governor Abdullah Siam.
Other figures present included the managers of Al Maqassid, Mar Youssef and Red Crescent hospitals, academics, university professors, journalists and scores of dignitaries of the holy city.
