Rabat – The Bayt Mal Al-Quds Asharif Agency (BMAQ) announced on Friday in Rabat the launch of its social assistance program for the holy month of Ramadan in Jerusalem for the year 1447 AH. The announcement was made during its annual charity event, “Laylat Al-Ihsane,” held to raise funds as part of the “Al-Quds Nights in Morocco” program.
The Agency explained that the program includes the distribution of 5,000 food baskets to needy Palestinian families in the city and the surrounding villages of the governorate. Each basket contains 22 essential food items, along with the provision of iftar meals for residents of hospitals and social care centers.
The program also includes the organization of iftar meals at a number of takayas (charitable soup kitchens). In addition, the Agency plans to provide Eid al-Fitr clothing for 500 orphans from sponsored families, helping to bring joy to the children while preserving their dignity on the occasion of the Eid.
The Agency emphasized that the program reflects its ongoing commitment to supporting the people of Jerusalem and preserving the city’s cultural and religious identity, in line with the gracious directives of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Chairman of the Al-Quds Committee, through field initiatives addressing the population’s needs, especially during Ramadan.
Beyond its social initiatives, BMAQ is committed to preserving the spiritual and cultural spirit of Ramadan through symbolic actions, including the traditional lighting of the Ramadan lantern in the Old City, highlighting the protection of religious heritage and strengthening Jerusalem’s collective memory.
The Agency stated that beneficiaries are selected according to strict criteria overseen by a committee of social workers, in direct coordination with the Agency’s Jerusalem office and in partnership with local social institutions, ensuring that support reaches the most needy within the limits of the allocated budget.
