Jerusalem – The Bayt Mal Al-Quds Asharif Agency (BMAQ) continues its schoolbag distribution campaign in Jerusalem for the new academic year, benefiting 2,300 students from underprivileged backgrounds across the city’s neighborhoods, villages, and refugee camps.
The budget for this initiative amounts to USD 125,000, funded by Moroccan institutions.
In this context, the headquarters of the Jerusalem Governorate in Al-Ram, north of the city, hosted a gathering on Monday that brought together families of beneficiary students from various villages across the governorate. The occasion was marked by the presence of the Deputy Governor of Jerusalem, Abdullah Siam, who personally supervised the handover of the new schoolbags to the registered recipients.
On the occasion, the Deputy Governor of Jerusalem emphasized that the initiative arrives at a crucial moment to support Jerusalemite students by equipping them with comprehensive school supplies. He described it as a gesture of affection and respect for every student and teacher, underscoring the Kingdom of Morocco’s unwavering solidarity with the Palestinian people in Jerusalem under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Chairman of the Al-Quds Committee.
For her part, Inaam Abu Zaiter, Director of the Governorate’s Social Affairs Department, noted that the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Asharif Agency had acted swiftly in response to the appeal of Jerusalem’s residents, supplying schoolbags and essential materials for their children at a time when harsh economic conditions prevent many families from meeting these needs.
In a further step, the Agency’s team visited the “Israr School” at Augusta Victoria Hospital – Al-Mutlaa on the Mount of Olives on Tuesday, where they distributed schoolbags to children battling cancer and kidney failure.
On this occasion, the school’s director, Mrs. Hiyam Sandouqa, remarked that the initiative embodies the solidarity of the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Asharif Agency with her students, not only through the provision of schoolbags and educational supplies but also by offering awareness materials that emphasize the importance of Jerusalem and strengthen the pupils’ sense of national identity.
Ibrahim Al-Khatib, an official at the Community Action Center of Al-Mutlaa Hospital, voiced his appreciation to Morocco, under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, for this generous initiative. He emphasized that such sustained efforts in Jerusalem leave a deeply positive mark on students and their families as they embark on the new school year.
Notably, children with special needs will also benefit from the schoolbag distribution program, reflecting the Agency’s commitment to dedicating a portion of its projects and initiatives to supporting persons with disabilities.
The distributed schoolbags contain essential school supplies and educational materials designed to facilitate effective learning and boost academic achievement.
