Jerusalem – The Bayt Mal Al-Quds Asharif Agency (BMAQ) and the Al-Makassed Charitable Hospital Association signed a funding agreement today, Tuesday, in Jerusalem to provide temporary shelter for several patients from the Gaza Strip and their companions, who remain stranded due to the ongoing war in Gaza.
The agreement, signed by Mohamed Salem Echarkaoui, the Director in charge of running the Agency, and Dr. Omar Abu Zayda, CEO of Al-Makassed Hospital, provides for covering the costs of accommodation, lodging, and meals for Gaza patients and their companions for a period of five months. This support is renewable depending on developments in Gaza, and will remain in place until the war ends and they can safely return home.
On this occasion, the Director General of Al-Makassed Hospital expressed his appreciation to the Kingdom of Morocco—its King, government, and people—and especially to His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Chairman of the Al-Quds Committee, for this generous initiative, praising the ongoing role of BMAQ in supporting the city of Jerusalem, its institutions and people, as well as the people of Gaza and the rest of Palestine.
Following that, Mr.Echarkaoui, accompanied by administrative and medical staff and members of the BMAQ’ office in Jerusalem, visited renovation and maintenance workshops in the hospital’s departments and buildings, then inspected the accommodation conditions of Gaza patients and their companions at a hotel unit near the hospital.
It is worth noting that Mr. Echarkaoui, in his capacity as head of BMAQ), began a visit to the city today that will continue until July 27. The visit aims to follow up on several projects being implemented by the Agency in Jerusalem and to launch initiatives planned for the summer season.
