Rabat – A delegation from the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) paid a visit today, Monday, to the headquarters of the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Asharif Agency (BMAQ) in Rabat.
On this occasion, the Palestinian delegation, headed by Ahmed Al-Tamimi, member of the Executive Committee of the Organization and Head of the Human Rights and Civil Society Department, held a meeting with Mohamed Salem Echarkaoui, the director in charge of managing BMAQ. During the meeting, they reviewed the social and humanitarian support programs directed for the benefit of the residents of Jerusalem.
The meeting was also an opportunity to discuss ways to strengthen future cooperation, in line with the mandates and field orientations of BMAQ, to mobilize more resources and coordinate efforts with the aim of creating a tangible and sustainable impact in Jerusalem, in accordance with the high directives of His Majesty King Mohammed VI.
In a speech on the occasion, Mr. Echarkaoui emphasized that the visit of the Palestinian delegation comes within the context of supporting institutional communication and strengthening cooperation on social and humanitarian conditions in the city of Jerusalem. He pointed to reports by the Rabat for “Arribat” Monitoring and Evaluation Observatory, affiliated with the Agency, which monitor developments on the ground in Palestine and especially Jerusalem, and their impact on residents, particularly in terms of health, education, and psychological well-being.
In this regard, Echarkaoui reviewed the efforts made by BMAQ in the field, noting that more than two million dollars was allocated during the first half of 2025, part of which was dedicated to relief programs, psychological and social support for children, and full sponsorship of a number of orphans, in addition to preparing to launch a unit for treatment and psychological support for vulnerable groups.
Mr. Echarkaoui also pointed to the humanitarian initiatives launched by the Agency for the benefit of affected children in the Gaza Strip, which include medical and social care.
He concluded that these initiatives, which fall within the framework of the high directives of HM King Mohammed VI, Chairman of the Al-Quds Committee, embody the special care that the Kingdom of Morocco has always devoted to the Palestinian cause, in line with Morocco’s position in support of the two-state solution, as well as its support for international efforts aimed at restoring stability and achieving development for the benefit of the Palestinian people.
For his part, Mr. Al-Tamimi expressed his deep appreciation for the continuous support provided by the Kingdom of Morocco to Palestine, stressing that Palestinian-Moroccan relations remain firmly rooted throughout history.
He noted that the PLO continues to coordinate its efforts with human rights institutions in Morocco to support just causes and address humanitarian challenges.
For his part, the Ambassador of the State of Palestine to the Kingdom of Morocco, Jamal Al-Shobaki, expressed his pride in the active role played by BMAQ, under the supervision of HM King Mohammed VI, Chairman of the Al-Quds Committee, through its implementation of social and development initiatives that meet the needs of Jerusalemites.
