Ramallah – On the occasion of the 27th anniversary of HM King Mohammed VI’s accession to the Throne, Palestinian officials praised His Majesty, Chairman of the Al-Quds Committee, for his steadfast support for the Palestinian cause and Jerusalem. They also commended the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Asharif Agency (BMAQ) for its efforts in implementing projects and programs benefiting Jerusalemites.<\/p>\n
Rawhi Fattouh, President of the Palestinian National Council, extended his congratulations to HM King Mohammed VI, wishing him continued health and happiness. He expressed appreciation for Morocco\u2019s unwavering support for Palestine, highlighting His Majesty\u2019s leadership of the Al-Quds Committee, the Kingdom\u2019s humanitarian assistance\u2014particularly to the Gaza Strip\u2014and its political support for the Palestinian cause.
\nFattouh emphasized the depth of Palestinian-Moroccan relations, noting that Morocco continues, through BMAQ, to support Jerusalem while providing humanitarian assistance to the Gaza Strip, including education, relief, and shelter for those affected by the ongoing conflict.
\nAzzam Al-Ahmad, Secretary-General of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), also congratulated Morocco on this national occasion. He said the Palestinian cause has remained a cornerstone of Moroccan policy under HM King Mohammed VI\u2019s leadership, reflected through the Kingdom\u2019s advocacy in international and regional forums and its support for Jerusalem and its holy sites through BMAQ.
\nHe added that Palestinian-Moroccan relations will continue to strengthen, particularly amid the challenges facing the Palestinian people and the threats confronting Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa Mosque. He also praised Morocco\u2019s efforts to preserve Jerusalem\u2019s heritage and properties, wishing HM King Mohammed VI continued success in carrying out his mission.
\nFor his part, Mahmoud Al-Habbash, Chief Justice of Palestine and Advisor to the Palestinian President for Religious Affairs and Islamic Relations, described Throne Day as a cherished occasion for both Palestinians and Moroccans, emphasizing the historic bonds between the two peoples.
\nHe extended his congratulations to HM King Mohammed VI and the Moroccan people, wishing Morocco continued prosperity and stability. He expressed hope that future celebrations would coincide with a free Palestine, and highlighted the centuries-old ties between Palestine and Morocco, symbolized by Bab Al-Maghariba (the Morocco Gate) at Al-Aqsa Mosque and the historic Moroccan Quarter in Jerusalem.
\nAdnan Al-Husseini, member of the PLO Executive Committee and Head of the Jerusalem Affairs Department, described Throne Day as a significant occasion for Palestinians. He praised Morocco\u2019s longstanding support for the Palestinian people and recalled the historic role of Moroccans in safeguarding Jerusalem\u2019s Islamic holy sites.
\nHe highlighted BMAQ\u2019s programs supporting youth, women, and Jerusalem-based institutions, stressing their importance amid the difficult circumstances facing the city. He expressed appreciation for the Agency\u2019s efforts and called for continued support for Jerusalem.
\nLaila Ghannam, Governor of Ramallah and Al-Bireh and member of the Fatah Central Committee, extended her congratulations to HM King Mohammed VI and the Kingdom of Morocco, wishing the country continued peace, security, and stability.
\nShe said the Palestinian people hold Morocco in special regard, expressing hope that the Kingdom would continue supporting the Palestinian people amid current challenges. She stressed that the Palestinian cause is not only a national issue but also an Arab one, and thanked Morocco for its continued support for Jerusalem and its political efforts in favor of ending the occupation.
\nThe Grand Mufti of Jerusalem and the Palestinian Territories and Imam of Al-Aqsa Mosque, Sheikh Mohammad Hussein, said Throne Day is a cherished occasion for both Palestinian and Moroccan peoples. He affirmed that Morocco, under the leadership of HM King Mohammed VI, has consistently supported Palestine through political, diplomatic, humanitarian, and charitable efforts, while backing BMAQ\u2019s mission in Jerusalem.
\nHe added that Palestinian-Moroccan relations are rooted in longstanding bonds of brotherhood and that Morocco continues to defend Palestinian rights in international forums. He noted that Jerusalem has remained a central priority for the Al-Quds Committee since its establishment following the 1969 arson attack on Al-Aqsa Mosque, affirming that Morocco continues, through its chairmanship of the Committee, to lead efforts to protect the city and its holy sites.
\nFor his part, Archbishop Atallah Hanna, Greek Orthodox Archbishop of Sebastia, praised the efforts of Morocco and HM King Mohammed VI in support of Palestine, particularly Jerusalem. He affirmed that Palestinians appreciate all those who defend justice and support their legitimate aspirations.
\nHe said the commemoration of Throne Day in Palestine reflects the Palestinian people\u2019s appreciation for HM King Mohammed VI\u2019s role as Chairman of the Al-Quds Committee and for Morocco\u2019s positions in support of justice and human rights.
\nArchbishop Hanna extended his congratulations to Morocco and its people, wishing the country continued progress and prosperity under HM King Mohammed VI\u2019s leadership. He stressed that the Palestinian cause remains a central Arab and international justice issue, calling for continued support for the Palestinian people and their legitimate rights.
