Rabat \u2013 The Bayt Mal Al-Quds Asharif Agency\u00a0 (BMAQ) announced that during the first half of 2025, it implemented several projects in support of the Palestinian population, with a total budget of USD 2.2 million, including USD 384,000 allocated to humanitarian relief campaigns in Gaza.<\/p>\n
In its 2025 mid-year work program report, the Agency emphasized that despite the challenging conditions in and around Jerusalem, and the limited availability of funding, it continued to fulfill its mandate under the Al-Quds Committee of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). These efforts are carried out in line with the high directives of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Chairman of the Al-Quds Committee.<\/p>\n
The report further noted that, in response to the deteriorating socio-economic conditions affecting wide segments of the Palestinian population, the Agency sustained its efforts by implementing social assistance campaigns, orphan sponsorship programs, and targeted support for vulnerable families. It also continued its annual grant program for organizations supporting persons with disabilities, with a total allocation of USD 703,000.<\/p>\n
The Agency further advanced its support for the education sector by overseeing the rehabilitation of Al-Quds University\u2019s Beit Hanina campus, a project valued at USD 421,000 and funded by the Moroccan Association for the Support of Reconstruction in Palestine. In addition, it dedicated USD 135,000 to scholarship programs benefiting 331 Jerusalem-based students enrolled at Al-Quds University, Al-Quds Open University, and the Modern University College.<\/p>\n
During this period, the Agency financed two research studies\u2014one focused on mental health and the other on digital realities\u2014for the benefit of the \u201cArribat\u201d Monitoring and Evaluation Observatory in Jerusalem. It also supported a study entitled \u201cThe Situation in Jerusalem Under Occupation\u201d for the Governorate of Jerusalem. Additionally, the Agency funded the publication of two books: \u201cOn Journalism and Journalists in Conflict Zones: Jerusalem and Palestine as a Case Study\u201d and \u201cMoroccans in Jerusalem\u201d, with a total investment of approximately USD 87,000.<\/p>\n
For the second consecutive year, the Agency implemented its program to support Palestinian startups through its innovation incubator \u201cBMAQ BINHUB.\u201d The program benefited the third cohort of Palestinian youth entrepreneurs, with a budget of approximately USD 410,000, funded by Morocco\u2019s Ministry of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform.<\/p>\n
In addition, the Agency allocated USD 78,000 during this period to support the \u201cChildren for Al-Quds Club\u201d program. This included the launch of the Hayya mobile app promoting the virtues and values of Jerusalem among children and youth, a 10-episode animated series titled \u201cThe Five Keys of Jerusalem\u201d, as well as augmented reality posters, mascots, and interactive books.<\/p>\n
As part of the Club\u2019s activities, the Agency also recently held the sixth edition of the \u201cColors of Al-Quds\u201d art competition, supported by the Ministry of National Education, Preschool, and Sports. It also hosted the fifth edition of the \u201cInternational Children\u2019s Summit Simulation for Al-Quds\u201d in collaboration with the Academy of the Kingdom of Morocco.<\/p>\n
Separately, and as part of Morocco\u2019s broader national humanitarian initiative to support Palestinians in Gaza\u2014undertaken under the generous patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI\u2014the Agency, in collaboration with the Ertiqa Local Development Association in Gaza, launched relief operations that have so far reached 1,500 displaced and vulnerable families in Mawasi Khan Younis, Gaza City camps, the coastal area, and the central governorate. The assistance included distributions of fresh vegetables, flour, cooking oil, and legumes, with a total budget of USD 150,000.<\/p>\n
In this context, the Agency funded a study on the epidemiological situation of skin diseases in Mawasi Khan Younis. Based on the results, it distributed medications, ointments, and hygiene products to displaced individuals, with a budget of USD 34,000.<\/p>\n
BMAQ also continued its early support for Gaza\u2019s educational system through Al-Azhar University, which successfully recovered and stored university and student records on secure cloud servers provided by the Agency. Efforts are underway to extend this solution to other higher education institutions in the Gaza Strip.<\/p>\n
The Agency is also assessing the impact of its remote learning platform, which has enabled thousands of university students with internet access to catch up on delayed coursework. Additionally, it awarded scholarships to eight final-year students from the King Hassan II Faculty of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences in Gaza to complete their studies at the Hassan II Institute of Agronomy and Veterinary Medicine in Rabat, specializing in veterinary medicine and animal production.<\/p>\n
Furthermore, in coordination with the competent Palestinian authority\u2014the Ministry of Social Development in Ramallah\u2014the Agency has initiated the implementation of its commitment to support 45 Palestinian children with limb amputations. This initiative forms part of a broader pledge to assist a total of 300 children and is funded by Morocco\u2019s Ministry of Social Integration, Solidarity and Family, in partnership with the Moroccan Association for the Support of Reconstruction in Palestine. The allocated budget for this phase amounts to USD 200,000.<\/p>\n
It also launched full sponsorship for 500 orphaned children from Gaza, providing each with a monthly stipend of USD 150, in addition to seasonal support during religious holidays and school enrollment periods.<\/p>\n
BMAQ is also preparing to launch a psychological clinic\u2014as soon as the security situation stabilizes in Gaza\u2014to support children in vulnerable conditions, particularly orphans and amputees, and assist them with reintegration into their social environments.
