Istanbul– On Saturday, the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Asharif Agency (BMAQ) provided a comprehensive briefing to the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), convened for its 51st session in Istanbul, outlining its ongoing humanitarian efforts in support of the Palestinian population in Jerusalem and Gaza.
According to a document circulated by the Agency to delegation heads and representatives of participating organizations during the two-day session (June 21–22), BMAQ—operating under the Al-Quds Committee chaired by His Majesty King Mohammed VI—continues to implement field-level humanitarian initiatives in accordance with royal directives, particularly in response to the ongoing conflict in the Gaza Strip.
As part of these efforts, and on the occasion of Eid al-Adha this year, BMAQ distributed food aid to 850 of the most vulnerable families in both Jerusalem and Gaza.
The document also highlighted the launch of a campaign to provide flour and other essential food items to 1,000 families in Gaza. This assistance, which also included supplies of potable water, was funded by Moroccan civil society organizations.
In coordination with the Palestinian Ministry of Social Development, BMAQ also initiated a prosthetic limb program for children who lost limbs due to the war. The first phase covers 23 children and is part of a broader initiative aimed at reaching 300 beneficiaries, implemented in partnership with Moroccan NGOs.
In parallel, BMAQ launched an orphan sponsorship program in collaboration with local associations in Gaza. The initiative targets 500 children who lost their parents during the conflict, providing monthly stipends, social support on religious occasions, and a special grant at the start of each academic year.
To address mental health needs, the Agency also launched the “Psychological Clinic” project in cooperation with several partners. The initiative aims to deliver specialized psychological care for amputee children and sponsored orphans in need of professional mental health support.
It is worth noting that BMAQ is participating in the 51st session of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers with a delegation led by the Agency’s Managing Director, Mohamed Salem Echarkaoui.
